If you are considered a bad driver or a high-risk driver, finding a car insurance rate you can afford comfortably is a challenge. Most insurance companies do not like to insure high-risk drivers for fear of paying out high payouts if you have an accident. If you find a car insurance company to insure you, you will pay a high price.

Many factors contribute to a car insurance company considering a driver a high-risk. Whether the insurance company goes back three years or one year, you need to remember drinking and driving violations stay on your record longer than a speeding ticket will. Accidents, speeding, running red lights, operating over the centerline and driving the wrong way on a road will contribute to your high car insurance rate.

Other factors that contribute to your bad driving record include failure to pay fines and court costs and the type of sentence or punishment you received. Your high-risk standing makes it difficult to find car insurance. It takes many years to clean up a bad driving record and even then, you need to consider other things when looking for a cheap car insurance rate.

If you receive auto insurance quotes that appear high, ask the insurance agent about this problem and determine if it was because of your credit history or your age and driving record. This is important information to know when you look for car insurance. The car insurance companies do like to work with you to give you the best quote on an insurance policy.

Men already have a strike against them as being high-risk, if you have a bad driving record, you are a man, with a poor credit history, and young, you will see a car insurance premium you may not be able to afford. There are some things you can do to improve your driving record, you might take a drivers safety course, which helps the insurance company lower your car insurance rate a little.

You might want to pay your fines and outstanding bills to improve your credit history. The other thing people do to improve there car insurance rate, they buy an older car, which should have some safety devices installed. The most important thing to start with is your driving habits, change them and start practicing good driving habits.

Once you start the clean up of your driving record and credit history, it make take up to three years before you see any kind of change in your car insurance rate. If you keep this up you eventually will see a decline, but as insurance rates rise, you may not see a decline, but a stand still of your car insurance rate.

By: David Faulkner

If you are convicted of a DWI then you better be prepared for your vehicle insurance to skyrocket. DWI auto insurance rates are more than any other classification of driver’s will pay. This is because a DWI conviction classifies you as a high risk driver and you will pay more in premiums to cover that risk. If you live in a state where auto insurance is optional it may not be such a big deal. However there are plenty of states where it is mandatory and the DWI auto insurance rates may be too much for you to pay.

You may get lucky though because may insurance companies only review a person’s driving record every three years. The fact that you have a DWI may go undetected for quite some time on your current policy so you won’t be charge more. Should you decide to switch companies though for auto insurance or make any changes to your current policy your DWI will be discovered. Many times a DWI can result in your request for auto insurance not being honored or your current policy being canceled.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has made it harder for those with DWI convictions to hide them from insurance companies though. In many states a SR-22 form of insurance is required before the person can get their driver’s license reinstated. This requires contacting your insurance company and letting them know about the situation. SR-22 insurance is more expensive that regular auto insurance because of the high risk involved with the driver. You can expect to be mandated by the Department of Motor Vehicles to have this type of insurance for up to five years.

To make sure you keep the SR-22 insurance coverage after you provide proof the Department of Motor Vehicles has your file flagged by the insurance company. Should you cancel the insurance policy or they cancel it for non-payment they will be notified and your diver’s license will be suspended.

The insurance company does reserve the right to cancel an auto insurance policy should they find out you have a DWI. They don’t have to offer the SR-22 coverage but many of them do because of the high amount of money they can charge for it. If the insurance company plans to cancel your current policy written notice will be sent to you so you are aware of the situation.

According to various studies 25% of individuals with a DWI conviction never find it showing up on their driving record. This is often due to the lack of effective documenting between the legal system and the Department of Motor Vehicles. In other states the DWI can be eliminated after the driver completes a treatment program and a driver’s education class.

By: Caleb Liu

Florida drivers have a minimum requirement for automobile insurance, which includes death, or injury for ten thousand dollars, twenty thousand for one accident and only ten thousand for property damage. Drivers do not have to carry comprehensive or collision on vehicles unless they need to for other reasons such as a lien holder requires them to.

Florida car insurance companies have many different insurance companies that offer good rates for good drivers. High-risk drivers will pay a higher premium than what a low risk driver will. There are automobile insurance companies that require you furnish all information to obtain car insurance from their company. The rates where created when the insurance companies took all drivers in Florida and combined all the information into a computer which then helps them to set up rates for good drivers, moderate drivers and high-risk drivers.

Auto insurance quotes for high-risk drivers will be higher then those for a low risk driver. These companies make money because of a need in the market for high-risk drivers to have insurance in order to drive. The eligibly requirements from company to company vary; therefore, comparing car insurance rates is always necessary. If an automobile insurance company will not insure you because you are high-risk, you need to keep looking until you find one to insure you, even if the premium is high.

A high-risk driver pays a very high premium when living in Florida. If you are single and have a bad driving record, your insurance rate reflects a high monthly premium. When living in Florida, you need to pay very close attention to your infractions to have insurance you can afford.

If you live in Florida, you need to carry proof of insurance [http://www.autocarinsurancehelp.org/Classic_Car_Insurance/]

as this is a serious offense and can result in fines and/or suspension of your driver’s license. Florida car insurance is mandatory and judges have been known to impose stiff sentences and take cars that do not have insurance on them. If you go to license a new vehicle or renew your plates, you need to provide proof of car insurance, which is liability. All states have the some form of punishments for failure to provide proof of automobile insurance.

If you have automobile insurance from a Florida car insurance company, your insurance is proof in all states as being insured when driving. If you have an accident while traveling in the United States, you are subject to the same penalties but they do recognize your insurance from Florida. You need to carry proof of insurance wherever you travel to insure if you are stopped even for a speeding ticket, you can prove you have insurance.

By: David Faulkner
